What is a UMass Pass?

A UMass Pass is the official University identification card. It's your access for everything - from checking out books at the Library to accessing the Athletic Center to eating at the Dining Hall. It's the Way to Pay for everything you need, on campus and off.
It's the UMass Pass, and when you've got it you've got your Passport to Life at UMass - Dartmouth.

**Please note: There are two different monetary accounts that can be accessed through your UMass Pass, UM Dollars and the Food Account. UM Dollars can be used all over campus and off campus; the Food Account can only be used at on-campus dining locations.

What is the UM Dollars Account?

UM Dollars is a prepaid, stored-value account that is accessible via your UMass Pass. It is the convenient, cashless way to pay on and off campus. You'll use UM Dollars for textbooks and school supplies. The area's most popular businesses accept UM Dollars. You can use it to pay for restaurants, delivery and more.

UM Dollar Features
  • Easy - No need to carry cash, checks, ATM or credit cards.
  • Off-Campus - Now you can use it off-campus at your favorite places.
  • Current - Up-to-date balances available at every terminal or on your receipt after you make a UMass Pass purchase.
  • Automatic - Balances roll over each semester/year.
  • Debt Free - This is not a credit card - no debt involved. When you buy...you own, not owe.
  • Local - Your parents can make deposits knowing you can only spend at places approved by the University, on and off campus.
  • Safe - Your UMass Pass Card lost or stolen? No problem (if you report it immediately). Just notify the UMass Pass Office; they'll deactivate your old card and transfer any balances to a new card right away.

What is the difference between the Food Account, Snack Allowance and UM Dollars?

The Food Account can be used at all the main campus' Dining Services locations, such as the Commons at Birch (including WebFood), Underground Cafe, Sky Ranch Grill, Jazzman's Cafe, and more.

Your Snack Allowance is the term used for the funds you have automatically applied to your account when you sign up for a Meal Plan.

Your UMass Pass comes with a stored-value account called UM Dollars. UM Dollars is the convenient, cashless way to pay for your purchases on and off campus. To use it, simply deposit money into your UM Dollars account and the balance will decline with each purchase you make.

Use it to eat at your favorite on campus dining locations, work out in the Athletic Center, and pay for library fees and health services. UM Dollars are also readily accepted at some of the most popular off-campus businesses.

How can I add UM Dollars? How often can I add funds?

There are three ways to add UM Dollars to your store-value account on the UMass Pass. Funds can be added at any time during the school year.
